{"id":1406,"date":"2023-10-19T20:18:01","date_gmt":"2023-10-20T00:18:01","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/templeshalommedford.org\/wp2\/?page_id=1406"},"modified":"2025-08-08T13:55:40","modified_gmt":"2025-08-08T17:55:40","slug":"post-bnei-mitzvah","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/templeshalommedford.org\/wp2\/post-bnei-mitzvah\/","title":{"rendered":"Post B&#8217;nei Mitzvah"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-central-palette-6-color has-text-color\"><strong>Temple Shalom Teen Initiative<\/strong>&nbsp;(TSTI \u2013 pronounced \u201c<em>tasty<\/em>\u201d) <\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Eighth and ninth graders participate in courses taught twice a month at Temple Shalom and engage in informal discussion sessions on various Jewish themes, such as Jewish music, Talmud, the Holocaust, Jewish cooking, Israel, etc.  Previous offerings include,\u00a0<em>Scribal Arts and the Torah of Imperfection<\/em>\u00a0and\u00a0<em>L\u2019Dor\u00a0V\u2019Dor: Ancestors in Jewish Texts<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-central-palette-6-color has-text-color\"><strong><strong>Rabbi&#8217;s Teen Roundtable<\/strong><\/strong>&nbsp;<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>As the culmination of their formal youth education, tenth graders have a special opportunity to engage with&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/templeshalommedford.org\/wp2\/rabbi-dellera\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Rabbi Jessica Dell\u2019Era<\/a>&nbsp;for monthly text-based group discussions utilizing learner generated topics to consider and reflect on their own Jewish identity and beliefs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-central-palette-6-color has-text-color\"><strong>Teen Volunteer Program<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Eighth through twelfth graders grow their connection and contribute to our community through helping out in various aspects of synagogue life, for example, as <em>madrichim <\/em>(teacher assistants) in the religious school, through collaboration with our Green Team to reduce our ecological footprint, and by leading junior congregation services.
