Kids & Families

Temple Shalom is the spiritual home for families from towns across the area. We are a child-friendly community filled with parents who support each other, whether they have newborns or grown children.

Every Shabbat, we welcome small children to play with the toys and books in the back of our sanctuary. For extra-wiggly children, we have a playground and basketball court, too!

From birth to bar/bat mitzvah and beyond, we have programs that bring families together to socialize and support each other.

Holiday Parties

Every year, we offer a Hanukkah party and Purim Carnival open to all members and to the community at large. Families are encouraged to volunteer, or just come and enjoy the festivities!

Free Swim

In the summer, all of our members are invited to jump in our pool and cool off. Our pool is open from June to August. Members can take a dip from 4:30 to 7 every Wednesday evening.

Pool Parties

In July and August we host two Sunday afternoon pool parties and all members are invited! The pool is open and snacks are served.

Apple Picking

In September (and just in time for Rosh Hashanah), join us for a day of apple picking! We invite everyone to grab a bag and pick some apples at a local orchard. Games, a petting zoo and other activities are also available.

Baby and Toddler Playdates

In addition to Tot Shabbat services, we invite families with young children to come to Temple Shalom for Sunday morning playdates. These are usually scheduled once per month starting at 10:30 AM. Please check our calendar of events, monthly bulletin, or our Facebook page for upcoming dates. Weather permitting, we meet on the playground behind the synagogue. We always have access to the synagogue building for bathrooms, changing tables, etc. When it’s too cold or wet to play outside, we have plenty of toys and books to entertain your little ones in our playroom or the social hall. We always have kosher snacks available at our playdates, too.
