  • Pre-K through 2nd grade meets Sundays, 9:30 AM – noon
  • 3rd through 7th grade meets on Sundays, 9:30 AM-noon and Wednesdays 3:30 PM – 5:30 PM

A Sample Typical Day

A typical day begins with family in the sanctuary where students gather for kehillah tefillah, community prayer. Here, they take turns leading prayers and blessings, working together to build confidence and community. After about half an hour, they split into their grade-level groups.

The remainder of the day sees each class taking turns between learning with their teacher and with specialists in different parts of the synagogue.

With their grade level teachers they work on conversational Hebrew, learning everyday phrases, as well a more formal Hebrew lesson using workbooks tailored to their level. They work independently with guidance from the teacher or a madrich (assistant), progressing at their own pace to build reading and writing skills. Judaic studies also takes place in their classrooms. This year’s focus is the weekly parsha, brought to life through storytelling and engaging activities like crafts, acting out scenes, or playing related games.

Between each of these segments they take turns in specialty programming including tefillah class, where small groups gather in the sanctuary to practice reading and pronouncing prayers, and shira, a lively session where they learn songs for Shabbat, holidays, or other Hebrew melodies, chosen to reflect the time of year.

Over the course of the morning classes take turns gathering for snack and recess, giving them an opportunity to refresh and recharge while forming friendships with their classmates.
